Windows Uninstall Program List
Remove Application From Windows Uninstall Program List
Technically, the Windows Uninstall Program List (also known as Add or Remove Programs) contains a list of all applications, software that has been installed (via .exe file or other installed formats) to Windows, allowing users to securely monitor and remove applications and software without affecting the operation of the system.
However, Windows Uninstall Program List does not always work smoothly. At times, this tool still has some trouble with the Windows Registry. In some cases, after removing an application or software, you realize that this applications or software are still present in the Add or Remove Programs or Programs and Features list in Control Panel. In addition, some users also have the habit of deleting the entire source of applications, software, and files, or the uninstaller is corrupted, making it impossible to identify and continue to display the names of these applications and software.
Therefore, if you unfortunately also suffer from this problem, apply the following two simple methods:
- Manual Manipulation Through Registry Edits
To perform, please follow these following steps:
- Start the Registry Edits tool by using the Windows + R shortcut and enter the “regedit” keyword into the Run dialog box that appears.
- Next, in the Registry Edits window that appears, go to the following link:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall
In the case of using 64-bit versions of Windows, go to the following link:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall
Once you have access to the Uninstall key, in the left column, the system will display a series of keys with rather cryptic characters. However, you just need to click on any key, the exact name of the key will be displayed in the DisplayName pane in the interface area on the right.
From now, just find and right-click the key that contains the name of the application or software you want to remove from the Windows Uninstall Program List., the Select Delete to finish.
Besides using the Windows Registry Editor, you can also use specialized tools for this purpose, such as the CClearner tool. Accordingly, to use this tool, you have to visit the Piriform homepage and download this tool.
Once installed and launched, in the CClearner main interface, select Tools> Uninstall. Then, this tool will display the list of all applications and software installed on the system. At this point, just click the name of the application or the software which you want to delete and click the Delete button to finish. From now on, the name of this application or software has been removed from the Windows Uninstall Program List. Furthermore, you also need to restart your computer to apply the changes.
